Nickel Alloys: Incoloy (800H, 925)
Incoloy 800H
Composition: Nickel-iron-chromium alloy (~30–35% Ni, 19–23% Cr, balance Fe) with controlled carbon and aluminum/titanium additions.
Properties for Fasteners:
Excellent high-temperature strength and oxidation resistance.
Resists carburization, nitridation, and oxidation in prolonged elevated-temperature service.
Maintains structural stability under long-term exposure at 1100–1600°F (600–870°C).
“H” grade has tighter control of carbon content and grain size for creep strength.
Applications:
Fasteners for furnaces, petrochemical heaters, and heat exchangers.
Used where creep and stress rupture resistance are critical in high-temp service.
Industrial and power generation hardware exposed to thermal cycling.
Incoloy 925
Composition: Nickel-iron-chromium alloy (~40–45% Ni, 20–23% Cr, 22–25% Fe) with molybdenum, copper, titanium, and aluminum additions.
Properties for Fasteners:
Age-hardened (precipitation hardenable) alloy, combining strength with corrosion resistance.
Excellent resistance to chloride stress corrosion cracking, hydrogen sulfide (H₂S), and carbon dioxide (CO₂) — ideal for sour service.
High resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion, and general seawater attack.
Strong mechanical properties in both room temperature and elevated temperature service.
Applications:
Engineered fasteners for downhole oil & gas equipment, wellheads, and subsea systems.
Frequently specified for NACE MR0175/ISO 15156 sour service compliance.
Critical bolting where strength + corrosion resistance in aggressive environments is required.
