Brass C464 (C46400 Naval Brass)
  • Material: A copper-zinc alloy with a small addition of tin, designed specifically for marine and industrial applications where strength and corrosion resistance are needed.

  • Mechanical Properties:

    • Higher strength than free-cutting brasses like C360 (yield strength ~25–30 ksi annealed, up to ~50+ ksi cold worked).

    • Good toughness and ductility.

    • Maintains mechanical properties better than standard brass in marine environments.

  • Corrosion Resistance:

    • Excellent resistance to seawater corrosion, erosion, and dezincification.

    • Tin addition improves resistance to saltwater attack compared to typical brasses.
